What is VPS? : VPS/VDS:
Virtual Private/Dedicated Servers fill the gap between
shared hosting and a dedicated server, it's a bit like
'broadband' hosting, all the benefits of a dedicated
server without the worry. |

Control: A virtual private server gives
you root access to the system, this allows you to modify
server configuration files, install applications or modify
system software, in a shared environment you have to rely
on server settings that are 'best fit' for all clients and
this may not suit your needs. |

Do I get full root access?
: Yes, you can install any software or application that is
compatible with RedHat / Plesk on the Linux VPS. You have
read/write access to all server files. While no one else
can see or access your files. |

Our Hardware and Software
: We own all of our hardware and software. We use Intel
dual Xeons with 2.8Ghz to 3.6Ghz CPUs or AMD dual Opterons
with 248 or 250 CPUs. The servers have between 6GB and
12GB of RAM, and multiple SCSI drives set in a RAID 5 or
RAID 10 configuration. We use Virtuozzo as the backend to
provide VPS solutions. |

Why a VPS
is better for SugarCRM? : |

» In a shared hosting you do not have any
control over the number of processes using the RAM
Memory, as a result of which the CRM application
do not exhibit uniform performance at all times. |

» If you have large number of
concurrent users (normally more than 10), shared hosting
will grossly under-perform and database queries will be
extremely slow. |

» We recommend a minimum of 256MB of RAM
for Hosted CRM Applications. If your number of users
exceed 12-15, you may have to go for 512MB RAM or higher.
We do not charge on the basis of number of users. |

» For SugarCRM Professional and Enterprise
(on-Site) Versions, VPS hosting is
strictly recommended.

» Once you have a VPS, you can use the same
server for your website hosting as well as for hosting of your chat /

basis on number of users (even for SugarCRM Open Source
application) and there are service providers charging upto
$180/month for hosting alone :-( . Having your own VPS
would not only improve the applications' usability and
